Justine Formentelli
Justine Formentelli is a French artist who grew up in the Caribbeans, the island of Reunion and Morocco. To this day, her nomadic beginning still influences her colour palette and her calligraphic marks. Now based in London, she graduated with an MA in Fine Art with distinction from City and Guilds of London Art School in 2018.
She creates single abstract assemblages inspired by natural elements, Surrealism and Abstract expressionism. These organic microcosms refer to an inner architecture and seek to give form to to the intangible components that make us who we are: our emotions, moods, memories, thoughts and beliefs…
Often in movement and open to external factors, her constructions are precariously balanced, teetering between coalescence and dispersal and evoke the ephemeral quality of our fragile existence.
